Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are just a few of the things going on in the 812:
1. Live Music Is Back At the Jeffersonville Riverstage
The long awaited return of live music at the Jeffersonville Riverstage is finally here and it all kicks off with local legends, The Crashers. You know the drill, bring some chairs, a blanket, and money for food and drink. The Crashers will entertain us like you know they do, while the local restaurants and food trucks serve up Jeffersonville's finest grub. The lawn opens to first come, first serve seating at 6pm, so get there early for this much anticipated opening night of the 2021 season. Animal Tracks will be the opening act.
6/4, 7pm, Free admission
2. School Buses Will Likely Crash Into Each Other At High Speeds
It's BAAACK!!! One of the most popular events in Southern Indiana is back for another round, or should we say "Figure 8". The 2021 Roosters School Bus Race at the Sportsdrome Speedway in Clarksville makes it's triumphant return. The big buses will take to the track and go full throttle as the drivers chase after the coveted checkered flag, while fans shrill with delight each time the cross paths in the middle of the track. The track does have concessions offering basic food and drink options. Get your tickets today at the link below.
6/5, 7-11pm, Tickets required
3. Free Movie At The Jeffersonville Riverstage
Another favorite Jeffersonville series is returning after a hiatus due to Covid. The Coca-Cola Twilight Cinema opens the summer with a showing of Trolls World Tour this Saturday at the Jeff Riverstage. The lawn opens at 7pm for this one. In years past they have had food trucks on site and pre-movie entertainment like bounce houses and other fun offerings. We have not been able to confirm these things will be available this year, but will update this post once we get a response.
6/5, 830-1030pm, Free admission
4. Purchase Real Life, Hold-In-Your-Hands Books At This Outdoor Book Sale
You can buy real, actual books and you don't even have to wait two days for them to be delivered. Just pick them up, pay for them, and take them home with you. The Floyd County Library is hosting an Outdoor Book Sale with what I'm told is a "huge number of books" ready for you to read. And at the prices they are offering you can afford to take home a Prime truck full of them. All proceeds and donations will be used to support the local library.
6/5, 9-1pm, Free admission
5. You Can Literally Eat In The Road
The fun, community-minded trend that is making it's way across towns and cities across America has made it's way to Spring Street in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This Friday, Spring Street will be closed to traffic from Maple Street to Riverside Drive from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. This will allow the restaurants along Spring St to offer more outdoor seating (In the road!!!) and allow pedestrians to move about more freely without concern for vehicle traffic. It will create a fun, inviting, environment to hang out with your friends and your fellow 812 humans.
June 4, 6 -11pm, Free admission
